During the month of April, the performance of the Colombo Bourse was primarily
weighed down by concerns over the reciprocal tariffs imposed by the U.S. on other
countries. Investor anxiety intensified as it was perceived that the tariff rates imposed
on Sri Lanka were higher compared to those on other regional countries. Given that
the U.S. is Sri Lanka’s main export destination, this development could significantly
impact export-focused listed entities. As a result, cautious investor sentiment prevailed
throughout the month, despite the tariffs being temporarily suspended for 90
days.
