The Colombo Bourse concluded the shortened four-day trading week in negative territory, recording its sharpest single-day decline since April 2022, with the ASPI dropping 500.39 points on Wednesday amid heightened investor sell-offs. Although partial recoveries followed in subsequent sessions, they remained insufficient to counteract the earlier losses. The benchmark ASPI lost 388.05 points (-2.27%) while the more liquid S&P SL20 index was down by 122.21 points (-2.39%) to close at 16,734.68 and 4,992.14 respectively.
