Colombo Bourse witnessed a dampened start to the month of September ahead of the presidential elections as political uncertainty clouded investor activity. However, market turnover saw a boost in the week leading to the elections with active involvement of institutional investors with the announcement of the near completion of external debt restructuring fuelling further market activity. The month ended on a high note as the benchmark ASPI ended at 11,855.05, with a 985.98 point increase (+9.07% MoM), whilst the more liquid S&P closed at 3,453.41, up by 394.81 points (+12.91% MoM).
